Who we are and what we do
We are a team of change-makers who believe that every helping hand can raise a child and create a better future for them.Since 1983, The Parent Centre has been contributing to happy, healthy families in South Africa.
We promote positive parenting to support the parent and child relationship for effective, holistic development. We do this by offering training, counseling, and support for all parents and families — whether you are a single parent, going through a teenage pregnancy, struggling with the dynamics of a blended family, or just need general parenting advice and support.
We collaborate with a myriad of individuals, professionals, non-profits, government departments, educational institutions, and philanthropists who are concerned about parents, children, and families.

Positive Parenting Skills Programme
Positive Parenting Skills Programme contributes towards widening the safety net for children.
Parent Infant Programme
Our Parent Infant Sessions consists of Parent Infant Sessions and 0-5 years counselling.
Counselling
General counselling is aimed at engaging the parent in a partnership where information is shared and the parent’s own problem-solving ability is facilitated.
Teen Parenting Programme
A Parenting Skills and Support Programme is aimed at teenage parents and caregivers.
Fatherhood Training
Fatherhood Training Course focuses on fostering active, involved, and nurturing fathers.
Community Education & Awareness
We offer a range of world-class prepared talks and workshops, or can customise a session to suit the needs of your group/organisation.

About Us
The Parent Centre was established 40 years ago as a project of the Cape Town Child Welfare Society to reduce the incidence of child abuse through the promotion of positive parenting.
