On Sunday, December 31st, 2023, at approximately 11:38pm, a black, 2015-2023 Dodge Challenger traveling westbound on McDowell Road collided with a pedestrian between 83rd Avenue and 86th Drive in Phoenix, Arizona and fled the scene. Researchers say that the stolen firearms, are moving directly from legal to illegal hands. In other words… owners who keep firearms for self-protection, but who are careless in the way they carry or store their firearms, are arming the very people they fear. Criminals are now breaking into vehicles for the specific purpose of finding firearms, not just to steal electronics. In Glendale, we have had incidents where people were practicing open carry of a firearm on their side when they were robbed for the gun …at gunpoint! This is just a reminder: Write down all the information about your firearms and keep the information stored safely in a couple different places. Know where your firearms are at ALL times and keep them in a SECURE place. It doesn’t help if you put them in a gun safe but don’t secure the lock. MARICOPA COUNTY2+ weeks agoAgencyThe Superior Court of Arizona in Maricopa County was made aware that fraudulent activity is still occurring where scammers call members of the community and threaten them with arrest for failing to appear for jury service. The scammers direct people to pay fines and fees to avoid arrest and jail time. The Court does not fine people by phone for not appearing for jury duty. The Court issues failure to appear notices, and potential jurors are asked to reschedule jury service for a later date. If targeted by a jury scam, write down the phone number of the caller and then notify your local law enforcement agency. Do not give the caller any personal information or agree to provide any payment. Contact your local law enforcement agency if you believe you have fallen victim to this type of fraud.
